Skype finally on the Nokia N800 Internet Tablet

Nokia has finally released a software update for the Nokia N800 Internet Tablet that lets you use Skype. For some reason, Nokia didn't include this functionality into the N800 until now, even though Skype was on the list of features when they first announced it at CES 2007 in January.
Beside the Skype, Nokia's Nseries widescreen device comes equipped with a pretty nice set of features: 800x480 pixel display, QWERTY keyboard, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 and a built-in webcam.

Bluetooth connection : the vital link?

'Bluetooth' is a way of using wireless to communicate data and voice over short distances of a few yards or so. The protocol specifies how mobile phones, wireless devices, computers and PDAs interconnect with each other, with computers and with office or home telephones.
Using Bluetooth, for instance, all a user would need to carry would be a headset and keypad - these would be linked to the phone or other devices in a pocket or bag.
The first generation of Bluetooth devices exchange data at a rate of up to 1Mbit/s, regardless of possible interference. The system transmits and receives via a short-range radio link on frequencies set aside globally (the 2.4GHz licence-free band).

2'5G; GPRS - More Achievable?

If 3G proves too expensive, some networks may decide to provide mobile data service using General Packet Radio Services (GPRS). GPRS is also called 2.5G, because its capability falls halfway between the present GSM and the ultimate UMTS.
Like UMTS, GPRS will be 'always on' (permanently connected) with no need to wait to log on to the Internet - but initially speeds will be slow (about the same as a 28kbit/s modem).
However, enhanced modulation technologies such as Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution (EDGE) could increase network capacity and data rates up to 384kbit/s . That would allow operators without a 3G licence to offer similar data services - but much cheaper and more quickly.

3G; UMTS Defined

The next main target in future mobile communications is the Universal Mobile Telephony System - UMTS - a third generation (3G) technology that will underpin full-function mobile multimedia networks based on broadband wireless technologies.
These could revolutionise telecommunications by placing Internet access right on your mobile - at 2Mbit/s - around 50 times faster than today's 56kbit/s modems. That would make video streaming of Internet content a real possibility, for instance.
Using a 3G device, Internet access could become almost instantaneous, without any gateway delays. The 3G user will be on the Net all the time, since the phone will be permanently connected (always on). An economic model for funding this lavish level of provision has yet to be devised, however, especially with operators having paid governments immense sums for their 3G licences and needing to invest billions of pounds more in new facilities and equipment.

Vertu; Exclusively

For those of you looking to truly impress your friends and colleagues with your wealth and status, you might want to familiarize yourself with Vertu. This British subsidiary of mobile phone giant Nokia makes phones costing from $6,500 to $72,500. Even the lower-priced models boast fine materials such as Italian leather and 18-carat gold, while top-of-the-line units are studded with hundreds of diamonds and other precious stones. The market for such luxury is bigger than you might think. Parent company Nokia doesn't disclose sales figures, but Neil Mawston, associate director at the British telecom consultancy Strategy Analytics, estimates that Vertu sells about 200,000 handsets a year at an average price of $8,000. That works out to $1.6 billion, nearly 3 percent of Nokia's $58 billion revenues.Says Mawston, "Vertu is Nokia's version of Ferrari. It creates a warm luxury feeling for the rest of the phone line."Vertu's president, Alberto Torres, says sales are on track to rise 120% this year. That follows 140% growth in 2006 fueled by booming sales in Russia, China, and the Middle East. "From what we've seen, the creation of a multibillion-dollar market in luxury phones over the next few years is very possible," Torres says.According to Vertu's Torres, sales in Russia already outstrip those of any country in Western Europe, while the Mideast market should clock triple-digit growth until 2010. Demand is strong in more developed countries, too, with U.S. sales up 200% last year. Other companies competing in this market include Switzerland's GoldVish and Russia's Gresso, who both offer handsets that run into the thousands of dollars. The prize for the most expensive phone, though, goes to Russian data-protection company Ancort, whose platinum-covered, diamond-studded Crypto smartphone sells for $1.3 million. We had previously posted on the fact that luxury watchmakers such as Tag Heuer have announced plans to enter the luxury mobile phone market, too. As for where you can buy Vertu phones, unfortunately there are no locations in Washington State so I'm out of luck right now. But if you happen to be in San Francisco, there are two locations:European Designs on Townsend Street and Tourneau on Market Street

Nokia on Fire

Nokia Corp. (NYSE: NOK) shares jumped more than 14% Thursday as the world's top mobile phone maker reported record profits and growth in the fourth quarter, selling more handsets than its three closest rivals combined.Strong sales in emerging markets helped boost net profit 44% in the period and saw the Finnish company capture more than 40% of the global handset market — an all-time best and long-term goal.Nokia's revenue grew 34% to $22.9 billion as Nokia sold a record 133.5 million handsets — up 27% from the same period in 2006.Chief Executive Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo described the quarter as "excellent.""Mobile phones are a necessity for a growing number of people worldwide," he told reporters. "In this sense, the market is everywhere."Nokia's strong performance was in stark contrast to that of its rivals.Motorola Inc.'s (NYSE: MOT) shares plunged 23% Wednesday after new CEO Greg Brown said the recovery of its ailing handset division will take longer than expected. Nokia said its biggest growth in the period — of 52% — was in the Middle East and Africa, followed by 43% in the Asia-Pacific region and 38% in China. In all Nokia sold 437 million handsets last year, 26% more than in 2006.I was one of those 437 million , having recently picked up a Nokia N75. I will be providing a review soon but I can tell you that so far, I am VERY HAPPY with the device.

Nokia's iPhone Response - "Tube"

Last week we reported on the first iPhone clone - the Samsung Instinct. Well, now it is Nokia's (NYSE: NOK) turn. Code-named "Tube" it is a touchscreen handset that is both Java and Flash-enabled. Currently the iPhone does not support either technology. The Tube will also be able to upload photos. While the handset maker did not disclose any details about the timing of the launch of the device, reports claim the company plans to launch it before the 3G iPhone drops, which could be as soon as 60 days from now. Forum Nokia's VP Tom Libretto poked fun at the recent news that Apple had shipped between 5 million and 6 million iPhones to date: "We've done that volume since we've had dinner on Friday," Libretto said.

Tips Mengetahui HP 2nd Pernah Kena Air

Cara Me-Recharge baterai Handphone

mengalami kondisi baterai habis sama sekali.

Selamat Mencoba......

Tips Sim Card Error

Tips Membersihkan Body Handphone

Setelah anda pastikan HP benar-benar kering, Coba Hidupkan lagi. Semoga Berhasil.

Tips Mengetahui Keaslian Baterai Nokia

Tips & Trik Pengisian &Pemakaian Baterai Handphone

Pertama tekan : * # 0 6 #
Lalu tekan : tanda panah (arrow) / ok

Maintenance Your HP (Tips & Trik Perawatan Handphone)

How to Care and maintenance your HP ?

Tips & Trik 3

Once you've done that, it might be useful to run Nokia Software Updater, and ensure you are running firmware v12.0.0.13, as it includes A-GPS (Assisted GPS), which uses your N95's net connection to obtain faster satellite lock-on times for GPS. It's an awesome addition, and if you're serious about GPS, it's a must. On that note, if you're serious about your N95, just get v12 anyway.

1. Access Points. If you have an unlimited data plan, always use your GPRS or HSDPA connection, change the setting inside the maps program. The connection will be used for the following:

- Downloading maps sections that you haven't already downloaded via the maps program.
- Accessing (many) extra POI's that do not come with the default maps.
- Resolving 7-digit postcodes like in England, otherwise you'll only get a maximum of 5 digits. Or is it 4?
- Downloading navigational voices (you can do this in the new map loader program, however)
- Resolving address searches for which you do not have map data (e.g. other country)

Some of these things are useful to have on the move, making a WiFi access point an inconvenient option. Although, you can obviously change that setting whenever you want to. Bear in mind however, that for using Assisted GPS (A-GPS - a nice update we all got in firmware version 12) you will need to use a 3G/EDGE/GPRS connection to use it, WiFi is not supported. This is configured under Tools > Settings > General > Positioning > Positioning Server. Choose the connection you wish to use with A-GPS there. Each A-GPS server request is approximately 5KB of data, not a lot even for those who pay by the KB.

2. There are no 'default maps'. All maps are downloaded via Map Loader or over-the-air as I explained above. It is worth updating them regularly, as map companies that Nokia use are updating the data regularly. This holds true even more so when using (paid) navigation, as navigational routing information is stored in the map data itself. This is good if you have navigational problems, i.e. you are told to turn left into a brick wall, or a deep lake, as you can rest assured this problem will eventually be resolved with an update to the mapping data, (or a lawsuit!)

3. The mapping program and the maps are free. Nokia make money by charging you for navigation. After all, they bought out an established German based mapping company called Smart2Go, and they have to make money back on that somehow. Don't forget, they make the program and the maps free for a lot of Symbian based Nokia Phones, not to mention even Windows Mobile. You can of course have it map you out a route from A to B, and 'track' you all the way there. It won't alter the orientation of the screen, that's one of things that you pay for with navigation, and also you pay to get the spoken turn-by-turn directions.

That's all you need to get started.

Tips & Trik Code

N95 Codes

*#06# ............ IMEI number (International Mobile Equipment Identity)
*#0000# ......... Firmware version and date, Phone Model and Operator Variant
*#92702689# ... Life timer (W A R 0 A N T Y) - Total time your phone has spent sending and receiving calls.
*#62209526# ... Wireless MAC Address (M A C _ W L A N)
*#2820# .......... Bluetooth MAC address (B T A 0?)

FORMATTING CODES
*#7370# .......... Format phone...[Hard-Reset]
*#7780# .......... Factory Reset

Note:
Format phone restores phone to as if it was out of the box. Retains firmware version and operator Variant changes but wipes all applications you have installed. Does not format the memory card so any apps on there may reinstall once powered back up again.

Factory Reset resets all settings to defaults but keeps any applications you have installed and photos etc. Both need the Security code, which, by default, is 12345.

Another way to format some symbian phones: Power off phone. Press and hold Green, * and 3 and keep them held whilst powering on and for a few seconds after, if kept pressed this formats without asking for Security Code confirmation.

Tips & Trik

Tips

If your operator does not support normal SMS delivery receipts (like UK O2) put *0# at the beginning of a text message to get a receipt (the recipient will not see it)

12# (etc) in standby will dial the number held in location 12 on your SIM card address book.

When texting using T9 predictive text you can generate smileys by pressing the 1 key twice or three times and modify the smiley using the * key:

Pressing 1 twice :) then * :( > ;) > :* > .. > ., and so on

Nokia N95 Tips

1. In the “Profiles” settings of Nokia, there is an option: “speak out the name to be called” and choose “open”. Then go back to the laptop and press “clock” for seconds. It will succeed in calling wanted person via speaking out the name of his.

This function is realized by the software built in the cell phone itself that can recognize the voice calling. It seems that the function will take up much space.

However, it is not suggested to use the function, since its success rate is very low and always there is the problem like this: call jack but jane appears. If your voice is nearly same as that of computer, it will be good. You can do like this. In addition, you can use these two functions at the same time, 3D ringing and speaking out the name to becalled, otherwise, the cell phone system will be halted.

2. If you didn’t uninstall the program according to the common method, the cell phone may prompt you that the installation failed when you install the same program once again.

Maybe it is a detailed adjustment to the 3rd generation Nokia S60 for the security. Therefore, it is necessary to be careful for the installation and the uninstallation for the programs.

The important tips for the software installation of N95! Many friends can not run the program after installing *.Jar. Below is the solution:
a. When installing *.Jar program, you must use English to name *.Jar program file and it will work well. Some *Jar runs slowly, but do not worry. It will just take several seconds to run. (Generally less than 10 seconds)
b. If you want to manage *.Jar original installation file well, I suggest that you can create a folder, and put the English files *.Jar into it, as it is convenient to the classification.

By the way, the precious version of handay clock software is not compatible with N95 and when you open the clock function to work for you, then the multi-media button will become invalid. Note: higher than 4.02 version can be installed to work well for this function. As long as the normal JAR program for N95 can run, it just has the differences between full screen and the half screen.

3. N95 can look through the zoom of DOC documents. XLS files can be modified by the ranks of size, translation, the freezing window operation. PPT files can be displayed as the method of the full screen. As the version of FLASH players is a bit lower and larger flash will not be played. So will PPT, word, and excel.

4. If you want to install the theme of Nokia N95 into the cell phone as much as possible. If you install the theme into the card, it will recover automatically to the default theme when you restart the cell phone.

Two methods of the theme installation:

a. Copy the theme installation software (SIS or SISX format) into the cell phone card and use “Y--browse” to complete the installation.

b. Use card reader or “data connection” of the data cable to copy the decompressed theme folder into the cell phone card. The path is X:\private\10207114\import\ (suppose X is the memory card).

The comparison between these two installation methods:
a. The process of the installation is very simple but it will auto create a file under the path: C:\sys\install\sisregistry. For example,

C:\sys\install\sisregistry\a00000eb\00000002_0000. ctl. This will take up too much space of “hard drive C”

b. The process of the installation is relatively complicate, however, there are not any installation steps and it won’t create any file on “hard drive C” either. Of course it can not be installed on “hard drive C” Choose the style of theme installation correctly: Usually, some people will install it at the first sight of the beautiful theme without considering it is fitable for you or not.
a. Do not install the different model theme, or it may be out of shape.
b. Install the unpractical theme because of the beautiful stand-by image and the letterform of its function list, information, selecting bars, the outside screen etc is not very clear at all.

c. The installed theme is too large and some themes will be up to 1MB. It will affect the speed poorly.
The deletion of the theme:
a. If you use method 1 to install the theme, you can delete it in “program manager”. If there are too many themes, it may not be resolved. You can use “Y--browse” to delete the file on C:\preinstallAppscache.dat and try to delete on “program manager”. If still not, you can use the following method to deal with it.

b. If you use method 2 to install the theme, please remember the name of the theme and use card reader or “data connection” of data cable here: X:\private\10207114\import to find the theme folder, and then delete the folder.

5. If you can not find or add the songs in the tab of “music” of N95, you may delete the original ones to update again.

6. As for looking through the different content, Nokia N95 provides two different network browser accesses.
The browser under the main function menu is used for the common WAP web page and the support of EDGE ensures the web fast speed. For the browser under the application program, it is mainly used for the HTML content, supporting three letter styles, full screen mode, and the analogue mouse for assisting the pages up and down, left and right.

7. The method that Nokia N95 makes wanted picture as the full screen wallpaper: To set full screen wallpaper, you must put the picture into your used Theme, and use S60 Theme Studio for Symbian OS to make your theme then add wanted picture into it. At last, combine them into sis files and install the theme into your cell phone. Here is ready for you to apply the theme onto your cell phone under the “settings” list.

8. The method to run N95 and speed up

a. Only using a SIM card, N95 will run slowly. You need to clear the spam files on “hard drive C”. The simplest way is to replace SIM card with MINISD card for restarting the cell phone. For about 3-5 minutes, shut down the cell phone to change back SIM card. Like this, Series60 system will renew the data on “hard drive C”, auto clearing original useless files. If you are interested, you can have a try.

b. Shut down unnecessary background program. The camera won’t run on the background if it is not open. But as long as you have opened, even though it is shut down, it will run on the background in order to operate it faster. It is the same with card folder. In the running program interface, press “select” and then press “shut down the application program”. It will really close the using program.

9. The batch deletion and the batch copy
The method to batch deletion and batch copy: Sometimes, we need to delete a lot of information or the images. It is boring to delete them one by one. At this time, you can do like this: option?check ?check all, after each file, a tick symbol will appear. And here, if you choose to delete, they will be deleted at a time. Another method is to check

them one by one annually. Do like this: Press “pen type key” and then press direction key up and down to check them. Loosing them and taking the same action will cancel checking. Of course, even though they are checked, you can also make batch copy and batch sending.

10. About video playback, it is very powerful. It can play RMVB files: 320*240, Real 8 or 9 encoding; AVI must be played by 3rd party players. RM files need converting to 240*320 with the conversion software, so do AVI files. If you use smart movie to play AVI files and had better use PC port itself.

Mobile Phones Buying Guide - Saving You the Ring Around!

Mobile phones have become a fashion statement. They come in different brands and catchy models for all kinds of users. The mobile phone sector has made a significant impact on the field of communication with new technologies and better connectivity.

What kind of mobile phone are you looking for?
There are many fancy models flooding the market, but you should choose a model depending on your mobile phone requirements. A mobile phone should offer exemplary service for the money you pay. These days mobile phones use sophisticated operating systems which perform most of the applications of a laptop. A businessmen or an itinerant person can go for smartphones with a good web browser, e-mail facility and other in-built applications. If you are looking for entertainment options, then choose a phone with an MP3 player, FM radio or camera. There are also some basic models for buyers who do not want to pay for sophisticated mobiles.

How are mobile phones classified?
Mobile phones are classified based on their design and service provider.

Design:
There are many designs and models available. Candybar models are the most common design. They are narrow and easily fit into a protective case. Flip phones are compact phones that open up to reveal a keypad and screen. The design prevents accidental dialing. Slider phones have a keypad that lies underneath the screen, giving it a small and chic look. There are some models with swivel keypads or screens that allow for two-handed operation when used horizontally. There are also tons of mobile phone accessories to jazz up your phones appearance.

Network:
There are two mobile phone networks, Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) and Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA). Each of these technologies follows different ways of transmitting voice and data.
GSM is the most widely used worldwide mobile phone network. There are many GSM phones on the market from manufacturers of quality brands. Phones with tri-band or quad-band GSM can operate on multiple frequencies and can be used abroad.
A CDMA network enabled phone is just meant for a particular network provider. There is a small range of handset models which cannot be used with other providers. This network provides a greater coverage area but has some pitfalls, such as limited call plans.
In Australia, there are three GSM phone companies with their own networks, Optus, Telstra and Vodafone. Telstra also has a CDMA network.

What features does a good mobile phone have?
Mobile phones have an expansive array of features. Some meet your basic needs while others are much more advanced and give you wider options.

Ergonomics:
Every phone comes with its unique design and look. Most mobile handsets, with the exception of 3G models, are compact. Manufacturers are trying to add more features to mobiles while retaining their small size with the help of flip phones, rotating screens and sliding keyboards. If you are a beginner, you would be better off with an easy to use intuitive interface. You can opt for more rugged phones if you will be using your mobile extensively.

Multimedia and Gaming Options:
Traveling can be fun with features such as an FM radio and MP3 player on your mobile. Consider mobile phones with memory card slots, as storage capacity becomes especially important for multimedia phones. Models that have an FM tuner will play music without the need to fill the phone with files or worry about storage capacity. Other mobile phones support streaming video and video conferencing. A Java-enabled phone can be used for downloading games as well as web browsing.

Cameras and Video Recorders:
Mobile phones can be used as a digital camera or a video recorder. You can take a picture anytime or shoot a video with most recent models. Some handsets have a very low resolution, but many newer phones have scaled up to 2 megapixels for improved picture quality.

Web Browsers:
Phones with a web browser allow you to send and receive mail through Gmail, Yahoo and Hotmail. You can also receive ISP mail through POP3 programs like BigPond and OptusNet, to name a few. Some phones feature Wireless Access Protocol (WAP) browsers for wireless Internet access. Few higher-end consumer models are capable of providing full HTML browsers.

Connectivity:
Bluetooth technology allows you to exchange or sync files with other mobiles or devices, such as PDAs.Infrared enabled phones can also be used for synchronizing with a computer or transferring files to a device. However, the device you are sending or receiving files with must be in your line of sight.

Speakerphone and Conference Calling:
A speakerphone is a great choice for multitask. This hands-free option lets you talk while you drive. It is also useful for making a call while in a group. A large number of mobile phones support conference calling for business users or caller groups.

Memory:
While the standard internal memory of a mobile range between 10 MB and 96 MB, a gaming or MP3 phone may have up to 500 MB of internal memory and come with a separate memory card slot. To get the best use out of your new mobile phone, go for expandable memory slots. They let you store a large number of files on the multimedia phone.

Battery:
Generally, the charge carrying capacity of a battery depends upon the features and usage of the phone. Standby times vary between 10 days and 14 days while talk times range between two hours to eight hours, approximately. The most commonly used battery type is lithium ion, as it has a low self-discharge rate and a high storage capacity.

Other Applications:
Every mobile phone has a phone book that lets you store your contacts. Some models include a voice dialing feature that lets you make calls without using the keypad. Almost all standard handsets offer organizer applications such as a calendar, alarm clock, stopwatch and calculator.

What accessories are available for mobile phones?
There are many mobile phone accessories available for your mobile. You can personalize your phone with changeable faceplates and mobile phone cases. The two most sought after accessories for a mobile are Bluetooth headsets and car chargers.

Headsets:
If you are the kind of person who needs to use a mobile phone all day long, a bluetooth headset would be a sensible option. You can conveniently have a hands free conversation using Bluetooth technology.

Car Kits:
Plug your mobile phones into car kits to utilize the cars battery power, speakers and aerial. You can enjoy music from your phone in the car with these kits. The aerial and speakers provide enhanced sound quality.

Cell Phone GPS

Cell Phones

Believe it or not, cell phones have a longer history then the radio. Cell phones started off in the 1920s and radios were first used in 1921. Some of the cell phone features were used in radios way back in the 1940s. Police used these radios.
The idea of the cellular phone was developed in 1947 as a mobile car phone. Bell Laboratories (also known as Bell Labs and formerly known as AT&T Bell Laboratories and Bell Telephone Laboratories) produced the concept of the cellular phone by introducing cells for mobile phone base stations.

Russell Ohl developed the photovoltaic cell (a device that converts light energy into electrical energy.) In 1943, Bell developed SIGSALY (also known as the X System, Project X, Ciphony I, and the Green Hornet), the first digital scrambled speech transmission system used in World War II for the highest-level Allied communications. SIGSALY is not an acronym. It was intended to look like an acrynim but it was just a cover name. SIG was common in Army Signal Corps names. The prototype was called Green Hornet because it sounded like a buzzing hornet to anyone trying to eavesdrop on the conversation.

Motorola has a long history of making automotive radio, especially two-way radios for taxicabs and police cruisers. The first actual cell phone was invented in 1973 by Martin Cooper of Motorola and other assisting inventors. It was called the radio telephone system. He used the idea of the car phone and applied the technology required to make a portable cell phone a reality.
In April 3, 1973, Cooper was the first person to make a call on a portable cell phone on to the amazement of the people walking on a New York City street. That first call was made on the first Motorola DynaTAC prototype to the head of research, Joel Engel, of the AT&T Bell Lab. This caused the technology and communications market to shift away from the place and toward the person. Coopers vision for personal wireless communications was born.In 1978, Bell Labs introduced the first commercial cellular network in Chicago using AMPS (Advanced Mobile Phone System). This was an analog mobile phone system. It became the primary analog mobile phone system in North America and is still widely available today, although its used much less since the introduction of various digital standards.

Cell phones were first made available to the public in 1984 although they were very large, expensive instruments. The Federal Communications Commission worked together with AT&T and Bell Towers to establish broadcast towers. The towers were small with little power and covered a cell that was actually only a few miles in radius but could cover a larger area. Towers allowed calls to transfer from tower to tower.

On a side note, today Cell phone GPS is becoming very popular worldwide.

O-V, by Nokia

Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow (YTT)Past, Present, Future (PPF)All this acronyms are making OV by NK make TPO A-Okay :)
Ovi spells Fun & Simplicity! Entertainment on the Go! PC & the Web in a phone. Sharing. Backup?Did you know Nokia was a name of river? Can't imagine a company in Malaysia known as Gomb, from the river Sungai Gombak :)Can't imagine that Nokia has grown from a paper company to a rubber company, to currently, the worlds largest manufacturer of mobile terminals & networks.

Spelled Ovi (please look up a Finnish dictionary), and no this article has not ended!"Ovi" for you non-Fins mean "The Door", funny how articulate Nokia can be when trying to re-brand existing products like Nokia Music Store (iTunes wanna-be), Nokia N-Gage (something I would like to see more of in months to come) & their new TPO*; Nokia Maps for N-series phones & 6110.Here's my personal rating (based on years of experience working with Nokia phones):1) Nokia Music Store - 30%2) Nokia N-Gage - 92%3) Nokia Maps - 32%Here's some basic reasons why Ovi will die a natural death like MOSH, etc or may not?

1) Based on user dynamics, I think Nokia will do well, if music content are embedded into handsets before it ships to end users. But by setting up its own Music Store, it not only is going up against big boys like iTunes by Apple. But it's also scratching the doors of Mobile Telecommunication Operators with a 50cents coin! And it is leaving a line on their paint jobs! Operators who have setup their own music stores like T-Mobile International, Vodafone & Virgin, etc will be putting up a tough front (maybe not even offering Ovi-enabled Nokia phones in their lineup), as it will eat into their content-based ARPU. I don't see Nokia & mobile operators sharing revenue when it comes to music downloads. Everybody wants the whole pie and nothing less.

2) This is the best thing that ever happened to Nokia. Realising early on in 2002/2003 that games & mobile phones are fused was the best thing that Nokia has ever done. And to see the current N-series phones utlizing the same engine & hardware specs to get ready to battle N-Gage Arena games are a blessing! Nokia Arena (yet another brand name by Nokia), never really took off with slow GPRS bandwidths & high data charges. With lowering bandwidth cost (mostly unlimited usage) & higher bandwidth (speeds reaching 1.2Mbps on HSDPA), Nokia Arena is ready to take on the online battle. And it makes total sense selling games on N-Gage and having them backed up on Ovi, just in case, you misplace you current handset :) A username & password will allow you to download/re-install the game you have already bought & profiles/game saves :)

3) Sucks big time! Have you tried using it? It's so difficult to navigate through the icons & menus. Moreover, with its free 3 months and maps that you have to purchase, its a rather big turn off to use its voice guided navigational feature. Who wants to buy navigational features when GPS is meant to navigate a user, NOT simulate a route?! To add to the misery, there's this fuss about reloading Nokia Maps Loader AFTER you have purchased the phone for additional maps; It's really a big turn off! Nevertheless, credit is due as its a simple blessing to finally get GPS embedded into Nokia phones these days. Gone were the days where you had to carry a separate GPS device (ie. Garmin or O2 with an external bluetooth GPS device). Strategically, it would make sense for Nokia to partner GPS specialist like Garmin or localised mapping companies like MapKing for Asia region. But, having 2-3 radios on (Bluetooth, GPS, 3G, etc) simultaneously would be quite taxing on the battery, hence Nokia would have lotsa work to make their batteries longer lasting! To sum up all of Nokia's Brands... Whatever happened to Nokia Point, MOSH and the many other Nokia TPOs? Would Ovi suffer the same fate of merely being another "sleeping partner"? We'll let you decide.Nevertheless, whatever said & done, I think Ovi & Jussi Nevanlinna needs to step up a beat. As its all down to education, end-user training & gaming events.Needless to say, Ovi's backup feature for contacts, games, music & files has always been around (even in Malaysia), read Jumbobox (2004-2005 product) by Unrealminds (now defunct & bought over by MonsterMob
